My Back Door Girl
From time to time, many of you have seen me make references to my Internet Chic. We both started our blogs at about the same time; I liked her from the get-go. I liked what she had to say (and still do), and I like that she has opinions and will express ‘em.
It was my wife who told me, “you have an Internet Chic”. I gave her the keys to this blog when I flew south for a little vacation with my wife and some friends. Key posted some good stuff, and is welcome to “come on in” anytime she wants. The door is always open.
I’ve never seen her, never heard her voice, and have had anything but electronic communications with her to this day.
I’m a man with good tastes, especially when it comes to women; just ask my sweetie. To prove it to you, go here. She has revealed herself.
I’m right again, and I love it when that happens.
My Back Door Girl - is a compliment!!!

A Worthy Cause
Hat tip to DGCI.
I'm giving five old cell phones to these kids.
Their Mission Statement:
Cell Phones for Soldiers was created by two teenagers, 13 year old Brittany Bergquist and her brother, 12 year old Robbie Bergquist of Norwell Massachusetts. After reading a story about a soldier who ran up a huge phone bill calling home, the two teenagers decided to try and help. Their goal is to try and help our soldiers serving in Iraq and elswhere pay for calls home. They plan to provide as many soldiers as possible with pre-paid cell phones or calling cards. The South Shore Savings Bank in Norwell, Massachusetts set up the account and donated the first $500.00. Brittany and Robbie plan to hold yard sales and other fundraisers to raise money. 100 % of every dollar donated will go to support this effort. Their parents, Bob & Gail Bergquist, are contacting cell phone companies to help out. They are also contacting representatives of the military to put a plan in place to distribute the cell phones and calling cards. They hope to begin the distribution by the Fourth of July.
I'm on board with 'em.
Spread the word.

Checks And Balances
Following is an excerpt from the remarks made by that raving lunatic Al Gore.
...there is good and evil in every person. And what makes the United States special in the history of nations is our commitment to the rule of law and our carefully constructed system of checks and balances...what happened at the prison, it is now clear, was not the result of random acts by "a few bad apples," it was the natural consequence of the Bush Administration policy that has dismantled those wise constraints and has made war on America's checks and balances...
How in the hell does Gore expect people to believe that the situation at Abu Ghraib was caused by the Bush Administration dismantling the constraints that enforce the checks and balances of our Constitution?
Which constraints? Which checks and balances?
Below, from the National Center for Constitutional Studies are some checks and balances explained.
Someone, please tell me what has changed.
The Constitution was devised with an ingenious and intricate built-in system of checks and balances to guard the people's liberty against combinations of government power. It structured the Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary separate and wholly independent as to function, but coordinated for proper operation, with safeguards to prevent usurpations of power. Only by balancing each against the other two could freedom be preserved, said John Adams.
Another writer of the day summarized clearly the reasons for such checks and balances:
"If the LEGISLATIVE and JUDICIAL powers are united, the MAKER of the law will also INTERPRET it (constitutionality).
Should the EXECUTIVE and LEGISLATIVE powers be united... the EXECUTIVE power would make itself absolu te, and the government end in tyranny.
Should the EXECUTIVE and JUDICIAL powers be united, the subject (citizen) would then have no permanent security of his person or property.
"INDEED, the dependence of any of these powers upon either of the others ... has so often been productive of such calamities... that the page of history seems to be one continued tale of human wretchedness." (Theophilus Parsons, ESSEX RESULTS)
What were some of these checks and balances believed so important to individual liberty? Several are listed below:
HOUSE (peoples representatives) is a check on SENATE - no statute becomes law without its approval.
SENATE is a check on HOUSE - no statute becomes law without its approval. (Prior to 17th Amendment, SENATE was appointed by State legislatures as a protection for states' rights - another check the Founders provided.)
EXECUTIVE (President) can restrain both HOUSE and SENATE by using Veto Power.
LEGISLATIVE (Congress - Senate & House) has a check on EXECUTIVE by being able to pass, with 2/3 majority, a bill over President's veto.
LEGISLATIVE has further check on EXECUTIVE through power of discrimination in appropriation of funds for operation of EXECUTIVE.
EXECUTIVE (President) must have approval of SENATE in filling important posts in EXECUTIVE BRANCH.
EXECUTIVE (President) must have approval of SENATE before treaties with foreign nations can be effective.
LEGISLATIVE (Congress) can conduct investigations of EXECUTIVE to see if funds are properly expended and laws enforced.
EXECUTIVE has further check on members of LEGISLATIVE (Congress) in using discretionary powers in decisions regarding establishment of military bases, building & improvement of navigable rivers, dams, interstate highways, etc., in districts of those members.
JUDICIARY is check on LEGISLATIVE through its authority to review all laws and determine their constitutionality.
LEGISLATIVE (Congress) has restraining power over JUDICIARY, with constitutional authority to restrict extent of its jurisdiction.
LEGISLATIVE has power to impeach members of JUDICIARY guilty of treason, high crimes, or misdemeanors.
EXECUTIVE (President) is check on JUDICIARY by having power to nominate new judges.
LEGISLATIVE (Senate) is check on EXECUTIVE and JUDICIARY having power to approve/disapprove nominations of judges.
LEGISLATIVE is check on JUDICIARY - having control of appropriations for operation of federal court system.
LEGISLATIVE (Peoples Representatives) is check on both EXECUTIVE and
JUDICIARY through power to initiate amendments to Constitution subject to approval by 3/4 of the States.
LEGISLATIVE (Senate) has power to impeach EXECUTIVE (President) with concurrence of 2/3, of members.
The PEOPLE, through their State representatives, may restrain the power of the federal LEGISLATURE if 3/4 of the States do not ratify proposed Constitutional Amendments.
LEGISLATIVE, by Joint Resolution, can terminate certain powers granted to EXECUTIVE (President) (such as war powers) without his consent.
It is the PEOPLE who have final check on both LEGISLATIVE and EXECUTIVE when they vote on their Representatives every 2 years, their Senators every 6 years, and their President every 4 years. Through those selections, they also influence the potential makeup of the JUDICIARY.
It is up to each generation to see that the integrity of the Constitutional structure for a free society is maintained by carefully preserving the system of checks and balances essential to limited and balanced government. "To preserve them (is) as necessary as to institute them," said George Washington. « Close It

The Never-Ending Buzz
I was in northern Kentucky last weekend and the Cicada attack was underway. There were millions and millions of ‘em, and the noise; one cicada is loud, but when they all start buzzing simultaneously, it’s deafening. The squealing progresses from low pitch to high pitch, a short pause and then repeats. This incessant buzzing can also be heard while driving 90 MPH with the windows down. Amazing.
It is said that a circular saw will really set 'em off...same pitch or something. I didn't try it, since the standard buzz was enough.
They fly in swarms, and when the wind blows, the dead (which are dried and crisp) fall from the trees and cover the ground, like a hailstorm.
Cicadas have a prehistoric look to them, so I guess that’s why children love ‘em so much. At least the kids in northern Kentucky do.
Anyway, I’ve known my wife for almost 14 years, been married to her for 10 of ‘em, and I’ve never, ever, heard her scream like I did on Sunday. One of ‘em dive-bombed her and became entangled in her hair; and when she brushed it off, it flew down her blouse and started flapping and squealing. She went ballistic. I’ve also never seen her rip off her shirt in her sister’s back yard. That was funny. Her family thought I was killing her.
It was a good trip; especially driving home through the mountains of West Virginia.
And speaking of West Virginia – “Daddy, get off me, you’re crushing my Marlboros.”

...We have liberated the Iraqi people from a brutal dictator who gassed his own people, had weapons of mass destruction, invaded his neighbors, harbored terrorists, funded terrorists and had reached out to Osama bin Laden. Freedom Is Not Free
Al Gore said Bush has brought us humiliation in the eyes of the world, and brought deep dishonor to our country and built a durable reputation as the most dishonest President since Richard Nixon.
What world is he living in? What about his former boss, the rapist, the one who lied under oath? The one who was impeached? The one who spent millions of dollars lobbing cruise missiles at a baby formula factory in an attempt to distract Americans from the fact he was getting blowjobs in the oval office. His former boss is dishonesty defined.
Next, he questions Bush’s honor and attempts to relate it to the Geneva Convention, the United Nations, international treaties, world opinion, our military leaders, and our fallen soldiers.
Al Gore is a babbling idiot, and should be under a psychiatrist care. So should all the people who were clapping and cheering as he made these dishonorable remarks.
Then he goes on to say that the Bush administration sought to radically destroy the foreign policy consensus that had guided America since the end of World War II. The long successful strategy of containment was abandoned in favor of the new strategy of preemption.
The strategy of containment didn’t work so well on 9/11, did it? Radical Islam knows no boarders.
Gore says Bush shook hands with the devil, and gave up his soul in the bargain. Then he babbles on about the psychological proximity between sexual depravity and other people's pain.
The Left, as well as the press, are going to ride the “prisoner abuse” issue for all it’s worth. There are bad apples in both the Left and Right barrels. Always have been, always will be. It wouldn’t have happened on Gore’s watch if he’d been elected because Saddam would still be in power. Gore would’ve surrendered, and America would truly be the laughing stock of the world. Al Gore is a hypocrite, and should be talking to his former boss about sex and people’s pain.
He admits the actions in the Abu Ghraib prison are not representative of who we are as Americans, and then compares good and evil to the Left and Right. In the same breath, he insinuates our founding fathers would disapprove of Bush.
He is all over the place.
He says Bush has created more anger and righteous indignation against us as Americans than any leader of our country in the 228 years of our existence as a nation -- because of his attitude of contempt for any person, institution or nation who disagrees with him.
Why? Because Bush had the guts to fight our enemies, as opposed to constraining them. They started it.
He says Bush has exposed Americans abroad and Americans in every U.S. town and city to a greater danger of attack by terrorists because of his arrogance, willfulness, and bungling at stirring up hornet's nests that pose no threat whatsoever to us.
They pose no threat whatsoever to us? Not only is Gore crazy, he is unbelievably stupid.
And by then insulting the religion and culture and tradition of people in other countries.
Fire up another one Al. To the IslamoFascists who want to kill us all so they can live happily ever after in the 8th century, religion and culture and tradition are one in the same.
And by pursuing policies that have resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent men, women and children, all of it done in our name.
Al, did you forget something? Freedom is not free.
Gore said the unpleasant truth is that President Bush's utter incompetence has made the world a far more dangerous place and dramatically increased the threat of terrorism against the United States.
Utter incompetence. Al needs to bitch slapped for that one. The followers of radical Islam have made the world more dangerous, not Bush.
He slams Rumsfeld and blames him for widespread lawlessness and looting, and then babbles about bake sales for body armor.
The loser he is trying to help get elected voted against every weapons platform that would ensure the safety of our troops, and allow them to win battles and wars. Flip Flop.
Gore says John Kerry is dealing with this unfolding tragedy in an impressive and extremely responsible way. Our nation's best interest lies in having a new president who can turn a new page, sweep clean with a new broom, and take office on January 20th of next year with the ability to make a fresh assessment of exactly what our nation's strategic position is as of the time the reigns of power are finally wrested from the group of incompetents that created this catastrophe.
The Bush administration is not incompetent, and this is not a catastrophe. Al, you know where you can stick that broom.
He then calls for most of the Bush administration to resign and ends with a quote from Abraham Lincoln "We - even we here - hold the power, and bear the responsibility."
Al, thank God your irresponsible mob doesn’t hold power.
Kiss my ass.

"How dare they subject us to such dishonor and disgrace! How dare they drag the good name of the United States of America through the mud of Saddam Hussein's torture prison!" Gore bellowed.

The Liberal
Just want to make sure we're clear on this.
The liberal is continually angry, as only a self-important man can be, with his civilization, his culture, his country and his folks back home. His is an infantile world view. At the core of a liberal is the spoiled child -- miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.

Some more deep stuff.
I said last week that I'd puppy-proofed my house. Wrong. I brought him home on Monday, and by Tuesday I realized the only puppy proof house, is a house with no puppy. Oh well. What was I thinking?
As Anne said: It's a Little Brown Dog, from the Latin "Chewus Everythingus Upus."
He will eventually live outside, but now he's too small. Unattended, he's hawk food.

The Reward To Kill An American
Laura Ingraham read the following piece on her show today.
It is a good reminder of our heritage, and who we are today.
As she said, "it is worth revisiting in these difficult days."
What is an American? A primer.
By Peter Ferrara, an associate professor of law at the George Mason University School of Law.
September 25, 2001
You probably missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper there an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.
So I just thought I would write to let them know what an American is, so they would know when they found one.
An American is English or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan.
An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them choose.
An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.
An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God-given right of each man and woman to the pursuit of happiness.
An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need. When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country. As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan.
An American does not have to obey the mad ravings of ignorant, ungodly cruel, old men. American men will not be fooled into giving up their lives to kill innocent people, so that these foolish old men may hold on to power. American women are free to show their beautiful faces to the world, as each of them choose.
An American is free to criticize his government's officials when they are wrong, in his or her own opinion. Then he is free to replace them, by majority vote.
Americans welcome people from all lands, all cultures, all religions, because they are not afraid. They are not afraid that their history, their religion, their beliefs, will be overrun, or forgotten. That is because they know they are free to hold to their religion, their beliefs, their history, as each of them choose.
And just as Americans welcome all, they enjoy the best that everyone has to
bring, from all over the world. The best science, the best technology, the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes.
Americans welcome the best, but they also welcome the least. The nation symbol of America welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of
your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed.
These in fact are the people who built America. Many of them were working in the twin towers on the morning of September 11, earning a better life for their families.
So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo and Stalin and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in thehistory of the world.
But in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.
So look around you. You may find more Americans in your land than you thought were there. One day they will rise up and overthrow the old, ignorant, tired tyrants that trouble too many lands. Then those lands too will join the community of free and prosperous nations.
And America will welcome them.

Slow Learners
I understand we killed a bunch of people, including women and children, in an attack in western Iraq. They say it was a wedding party. We say they were foreign fighters.
How convenient, using a “wedding party” as a cover for hiding amongst women and children. Cowards!
They say partygoers had fired into the air in a traditional wedding celebration. (at 3:00 am.?) They say American troops have sometimes mistaken celebratory gunfire for hostile fire. We’ve told them, if you shoot at us, you will have to suffer the consequences. DO NOT shoot at our planes and helicopters. Repeat 100 times. Stop capping ‘em off at weddings. Repeat 100 times. Aim at the ground. Repeat 100 times.
The Arab media sucks worse than ours. These people must be slower learners than I thought.
If I was flying over Iraq, and detected fire in my direction, I’d shoot back. Wouldn’t you?
This is war. Dumb Asses.

Allah or Jesus?
From the Inbox:
Allah or Jesus?, by Rick Mathes ... a leader in prison ministry
Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for Maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training Session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their belief systems.
I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.
After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"
There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!"
I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to Heaven. Is that correct?"
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He sheepishly replied, "Yes."
I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to Heaven!"
The Imam was speechless. I continued, "I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah who tells you to kill me in order to go to Heaven or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to Heaven and He wants you to be with me?"
You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame. needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with Rick's way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about the Muslim's beliefs.
I think everyone in the US should be required to read this, but with the liberal justice system, liberal media, and the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized. Please pass this on to all your e-mail contacts. This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well known leader in prison ministry.

This Is Wrong
I, for one, am proud to be an American, and I will show support for my country at all times. If anyone, ever, told me that showing loyalty for my country “might be viewed as confrontational or insulting or cause embarrassment" to people from other nations; they’re going to experience my wrath.
Mike Moran, a veteran former spokesman for the United States Olympic Committee who has been retained as a consultant to advise athletes how to behave should be stripped of U.S. citizenship, and deported. He is a traitor, and should be ashamed of himself.

Kerry Lied To The Senate - 1971
Here is a "fisking" of Kerry's testimony before the U.S. Senate in 1971, where he makes numerous false allegations about his country and the conduct of our soldiers in Vietnam. He also acts as an agent for the enemy, recommending immediate, unconditional surrender. John Moore, a Vietnam Veteran, considers John F. Kerry's testimony to be unforgivable. one of the most damaging actions of any American from that period, and a look at the true nature of this treacherous man.
If you've read all the other articles on this blog on this subject, you will only find a few new things here.
If you get your information about Kerry from the mainstream press or the Democratic side of things, this posting should shock you.

Fool's Mate
Two moves - Black (click picture to enlarge)

Fool's mate is a special case of checkmate in the game of chess. Chess is not a game of chance; it is based solely on tactics and strategy. Nevertheless, the game is so complex that even the best players can't consider all contingencies. There are a few slight variations on the pattern - White might play f4 instead of f3 or move the g-pawn before the f-pawn, and black may play e6 instead of e5.
This is notable as being the shortest possible game ending in checkmate.
Shorter games have occured when a player resigns, agrees to a draw, or forfeits due to not showing up.
You know what I love about the game of chess? No luck, period. No dice.
It is, what it is.

Col. Robert Morgan - RIP
"Twenty-five doesn't sound like much until you start flying them,"
Col. Robert Morgan, commander of the famed Memphis Belle B-17 bomber that flew combat missions over Europe during World War II, died late Saturday of complications from a fall, his wife said. He was 85.
Read the rest here.
Col. Morgan lived a very colorful life, as detailed here.
It's a good book.

The Plot Thickens
Is there a connection between Nicolas Berg and Zacarias Moussaoui, or is it a coincidence? Supposedly, Moussaoui had the password to one of Berg’s email accounts.
What are the chances of this, or that they had ever even met?
This is too strange.

Anaphylactic Shock
My wife has food allergies. I don’t mean a little rash and some itching; I mean Anaphylactic Shock.
We’ve been married for ten years, and three years into our marriage; she just “grew into them”. We had just moved from Tennessee to Georgia.
After five trips to the emergency room, in three weeks, and numerous visits to several Allergists, they still didn’t have a clue. She was keeping a journal of everything she ingested, by amounts and time.
At first, they thought she was suffering from a phenomenon called “Exercise Induced Anaphylaxis”, which is caused (they believed in her case) by eating (1) lettuce, or (2) celery, within thirty minutes prior to any aerobic exercise. I’m not making this up.
After this theory didn’t pan out, she had the full battery of tests. The doctors tortured my wife. They pricked her back and arms (with needles infected with the genetic grunge of food groups and everything known to grow in the environment) hundreds of times in an effort to cause a reaction.
Well, they got one. Actually, they got several.
It was determined she is allergic to Soy, Peanuts, Pecans, and just about every type of pollen known to man. So, for the environmental stuff, they made up a batch of special serum, unique to her physiology. She had to receive injections of this concoction twice a week. She said, depending on who administered the shot, that it either hurt, or hurt like hell. When we moved from Georgia to North Carolina, she had the full battery of tests again, and the results were different from the Georgia tests. She was allergic to more, and different, environmental things. This is Voodoo, so she weaned herself; no more injections, and all is well.
Food is a different matter altogether. Still - no soy, peanuts, or pecans. Forget the peanuts and pecans; do you realize what they put soy in? Just about everything, for example, it’s in the chocolate made in PA, and 99% of all “store bought” breads, tomato sauces, ice cream, etc. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that it is in just about everything you buy at a grocery store. If you don’t believe me, read the labels, you will be amazed.
Needless to say, this forced a major lifestyle change:
The Bad:
It is very difficult to eat out. We must go to a restaurant where there is a real chef who understands the problem, and is willing and able, if necessary, to “whip up something special” for her. It also helps if the servers understand. On a side note, I’ve learned to call ahead.
This holds true for eating at someone’s house. The constant explaining gets old. Most people have never heard of food allergies or anaphylactic shock. They think there’s something wrong with her (a disease or something), and that makes me angry.
The Good:
We cook everything all the time, so we’ve gotten incredibility good at it.
We eat better, so we feel better.
We don’t eat any fast food. Zero.
We’ve learned how to travel with food. I mean driving, and plane tripping. Believe it or not, this is very important. Planning ahead is key to a successful mission.
In conclusion:
Thank God they don’t put soy in beer, wine or whiskey.
…and the Bottom Line is: We can always find the good, in the bad and the ugly.

We Do Have A Choice
I watched the entire Berg video, and I feel everyone should do the same. Why? Because this is the harsh reality we live in today. People need to understand what we’re up against. What civilization, as we know it, is facing. Sometimes, rage is good. Right now is one of those times.
It is Crunch Time, but we do have a choice.
The IslamoFascists want to kill us. They will kill us all, if we give them the opportunity. We can either fight them on their own turf, or we can fight them in American streets. If we don't stop them overseas, life as we know it will cease to exist. But, one thing is for certain; we must fight this war, one place or another.
It’s our choice to make.

Gaza Poker
I understand that militant Palestinian groups are holding hostage the remains of six Israel Defense Forces soldiers killed in Gaza City on Tuesday. Their demands are: Israel will have to immediately withdraw from the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.
WTF - how sick is that?
I say: Arafat (and every coward hiding in his compound) should be dead by dawn, and the neighborhood of Zeitoun leveled. Any who resist, will be with Allah. Good riddance.

Time To Take Off The Gloves
I cannot begin to describe my rage.
These Islamofascists are PURE EVIL, and we must do whatever is necessary to stop them. We are at war, and the goal in war is to destroy the enemy. This war is unlike any other; there will never be any surrender, that is, unless Kerry is elected. The radical extremist followers of Islam, and notice I said “radical extremist”, will never stop killing, or surrender, until everyone on earth is a follower of Islam, or dead. I’m afraid we’re going to have to kill ‘em all. So be it, they started it.
We must reverse our policy on the targeting of mosques, and if we know they’re inside, we blow ‘em the hell up. After all, it’s just a building. If we have to kill a bunch of innocent women and children in the process…too bad…this is war. They kill innocents every day, and these masked, cowardly, scum of the earth have always used women and children as human shields. We must show them that we can play by their rules.
If they flee across the borders of other countries, they should be pursued and killed. If we know they are receiving support and aid from other regimes, the leaders of these regimes should be dealt with, and I do not mean sanctions.
We Must Do Whatever Is Necessary To Win

My New Trash Can
My wife is a planner, that’s for certain. She’s also sweeter than honeydew vine water, but that story is for a different time.
As we anxiously await the arrival of a new puppy, her brain is processing on full tilt boogie. She has “puppy proofed” the house. Trust me, this dog will not go where we don’t want it. Blockades, razor wire, mine fields, gates…hell, the only thing I’m missing are checkpoints manned by armed Terminators. (Eventually, this will be an “outside dog”)
I’m good with all of this…I have five computers, and all the associated peripherals, cables, etc. in my office…so the last thing I need is a puppy chewing up all of this shit.
BUT in my kitchen, is a new HUGE ASS trash can. It’s like one of several we use at the beach, which will hold about 10 cases of beer cans.
There is absolutely no way a full grown Dachshund, much less a puppy, could ever hope to access the garbage or turn the container over. I mean, the damn thing weighs about 800 lbs. full, and I’ll need a two-wheeler and a crane just to “take out the trash”.
Well, I guess, overkill is good sometimes.
Sorry Dax, but Just Damn!
I love it when a plan comes together.

An Open Letter...

It’s important that you listen because you do not understand us. And we do not understand you either.

We care about people – not just our own citizens, but we care about the people of the world. That’s why we give money in large amounts to organizations such as CARE and Save the Children – organizations that exist for the sole purpose of reducing poverty, providing food and health care, and building infrastructure throughout the world. In the 1960’s, President John F. Kennedy created an organization called the Peace Corps, where people of all ages volunteer to go to other, less developed countries and teach them the skills they need to improve their quality of life. We work to build schools, hospitals, water treatment plants, and factories to produce the products that are needed to help the people in those countries have better lives for themselves, and their children, and their
grandchildren. We don’t care if those people are religious or have no religion; we do not care what God they choose to worship. You see, we aren’t like you. We don’t drag charred bodies through the streets. We don’t shoot women and children for political reasons. We don’t take airplanes full of civilians and use them like missiles, bringing down buildings that hold tens of thousands of people at work.
Instead, we build buildings for the people of the world; we build airports so that you can import food and medical supplies, as well as the tools to build your infrastructure. We raise money in our communities, and network with doctors and health providers to bring injured or sick children to our country for the best health care that we have available. We don’t do this for personal gain; we take the money that we work hard to earn and share it, voluntarily, with others in other lands.
Our caring nature is showing up in our newspapers, on the internet, and on television sets around the world. And you are ridiculing it, and making fun of it. You see it as a sign of weakness.
As a society, we are compelled to continuously question our humanity, to hold ourselves to a higher standard that the rest of the world. That is what keeps us strong and great as a nation. We make mistakes, we admit them, apologize, and take steps to make sure that they do not recur. We see it as a sign of strength; you see it as an indication that we are close to defeat.
For years, prisoners in jails in the Islamic world have truly been tortured. I don’t mean they’ve been embarrassed, or had their feelings hurt. I mean they have been tortured. Ask your leader, Dr. Ayman Zawahiri (second in command of Al Qaeda), about the torture he received in Egyptian jails in his own country; he should be able to explain to you the difference between being humiliated and being tortured. Not much more than a year ago, in that same prison in Iraq, where some of your countrymen were hazed, Iraqi civilians were being murdered day in and day out. They were beaten, electrocuted, raped, and fed through industrial shredders. They had eyes poked out, and body parts amputated. That’s torture.
That doesn’t mean what our soldiers did was right. It wasn’t. But I daresay those prisoners are not in jail for jaywalking, or even smoking marijuana. They are in Abu Graith because they tried to kill OUR countrymen. They will try again the first chance they get. That has been proven over and over again.
We have made our disgust with the actions of our soldiers known. Our President and our Secretary of Defense have apologized. The persons who perpetrated these acts have been relieved of duty and will be subjected to military discipline. It won’t be fun.
Now if you don’t mind, I’d really appreciate it if you could answer a couple of questions for me.
With all of the oil money, I’m sure you can list a few places where you have gone and built schools and hospitals. What was the name of your international aid agency? What charities have you donated to recently? What happened to all the money you paid in Zakat, the alms for the poor, that Islam requires of you as one of its five pillars?
What happened to those who tortured Iraqi civilians in that same building? Have they apologized? Have they been disciplined? Have they had to answer for their crimes? Has anyone in the Arab world even complained about those actions? Nope, I didn’t think so.
What about those responsible for bringing down the World Trade Center, for attacking our embassies and ships around the world, for executing the Italian hostage, for murdering those school children in Basra a couple of weeks ago? Should I call the networks and book some time for them to make a public apology? Nope, I didn’t think so.
You laugh at our 911 Commission, and the fact that our President and our Vice-President were required to answer their questions. But you don’t understand. It is the very concept of accountability, of accepting personal responsibility for ones actions that keep us human. That is what allows us to respond with outrage at the photos that degrade Iraq prisoners, and to ignore the fact that maybe that prisoner killed an American serviceman, or an Iraqi kindergartener.
What you see as weakness is a deep-rooted strength that can only grown in an atmosphere of freedom. We do not just have the basic freedoms granted us in our Constitution and Bill of Rights, but we also have the freedom to question ourselves, and to hold our leaders accountable.
And we also have the right to hold you accountable for your actions. I’m sure you’ll find it an enlightening experience.

John Kerry Is A Fraud
If you don't like John Kerry's position on an issue today, just wait -- it will change.
by Andy Obermann
06 May 2004
John Kerry is a man of complete contradiction. I know this is obvious to anyone with a pulse, but his blatant disregard for personal integrity is alarming, especially for a man aspiring to be the President of the United States.
The news from Iraq concerning the shameful actions of a half-dozen American troops has offered Kerry a bit of political cover. With the media rightly focused on the POW abuse, Kerry has gained an opportunity to recover from what has to be one of the worst series of lies and half-truths a presidential candidate has been forced to endure—and the funny thing is, he brought it all upon himself.
Despite claims of a GOP “smear machine,” Kerry has succeeded in personally de-railing his campaign with his propensity for being caught in lie after lie.
The whole situation began with Kerry’s Vietnam (and post-Vietnam) service and activities. Now, most rational-minded Americans don’t really care what Kerry, or President Bush for that matter, did or didn’t do 30-plus years ago in Vietnam, but since Kerry continually makes his service record an issue in campaign stops and ad blitzes, one must discuss it.
The major gaffe I’ve come across here is his claim to have “thrown his medals” (1971) over a fence and onto the lawn of the Capitol building—no, wait, I mean he threw “his ribbons” (2004)—err, I mean “two other veterans'” medals (2003). Wait, John Kerry “never threw [his] medals away,” at all (1984)—that’s the ticket. The reality is Kerry has been all over the place on this one and if you ask him about it enough times, you’ll probably get an answer you like.
A second gaffe arose a couple of weeks ago when it was revealed that John Kerry has several SUVs, but doesn’t really own any. Apparently, back in February, when speaking before a union group in Detroit (the SUV capital of the United States), Kerry was proud of his collection. When asked what vehicles he owns, Kerry replied, “We have some SUVs…I have an old Dodge 600 that I keep at the Senate…and also a Chevy, a big Suburban.”
But wait, no, that’s not what the Senator meant. A few weeks later, on April 22, when speaking to a group of reporters on a conference call, Kerry outright denied his previous statement, definitively claiming, “I don’t own an SUV.” Later that day, at an environmental rally, Kerry was confronted with his hypocrisy and waffled accordingly. This time, however, instead of taking the definitive, Kerry settled somewhere in the middle when he explained, “The family owns it [the SUVs], I don’t have it.” Thanks for clearing things up there, Senator.
Kerry continued his nonsense when discussing Israeli-Palestinian relations before a group in Michigan, back in 2003. In a speech to a Palestinian advocacy group, he openly came out in opposition to the wall being built by Israel to defend against infiltrating Palestinian terrorists, dubbing it a “barrier to peace,” and criticizing Israeli leadership for “derailing” the peace process.
The odd part is that just four months later, in Feb. of 2004, Kerry continued his attempt to flip on every issue in this campaign. In an interview with the Jerusalem Post, Kerry reneged on his previous assessment of the Israeli wall, calling it a “…legitimate act of self-defense…” This flip I suppose can be easily cleared up. To sum it up, Kerry believes the barrier is both good and bad depending on whom he is talking to at that moment.
Kerry has also flipped on education. Originally, the presidential hopeful was in full support of the President’s No Child Left Behind (NCLB) package. He was one of many senators who voted for the measure. Now, however, Kerry is criticizing the very bill he voted into law, calling it “ideological” and “laughable.” I guess the wording of the law has changed since he signed it. Oh well.
I agree that NCLB is a sham and I don’t really care if he drives to work in a SUV or Radio Flyer, but it is scary that a man who has hopes to be President of the United States can’t hold a steady position on any issue—big, small, or in between. It would be laughable if he weren’t so close to the President in recent election polls.
Regardless, as the old saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather in Missouri, wait a minute—it’ll change.” Truer words were never spoken—especially for Senator Kerry.
