So Far, So Good
Well, it is dark now. So far, all the kids who have "rung the bell" (approached the porch) are Right Scary kids. Their Right Scary parents hang back about 10 yards. This is good. They are having fun!!! I mean - all of em', the children and their parents. Cool!!! We live in a Right type neighborhood. It could be worse. Know what I mean? You could be "Left Out".
It will be a good night!

Boo !
Since it is Halloween, I'm trying on my new costume. I'm going to become a liberal Democrat. If I post some completely illogical nonsense, you will know why. I'll be back after the transformation is complete. Stay tuned!

I’m a European American
Bullshit!
Americans are Americans plain and simple. I’m sick and tired of hearing African American, Asian American, Mexican American, Hispanic American, whatever, etc, etc, bla bla bla.
I’m also sick and tired of hearing about Slavery and Reparations. Slavery was, and is, wrong, but I did not participate. I DID NOT PARTICIPATE!
Some Americans continue to rant and rave about slavery and injustice. Well here’s one for you. The Europeans, climbed aboard boats, sailed into the sunset, and basically stole two continents from the natives.
What do you think about that?
I think sometimes people confuse injustice with progress. I guess it’s all a mater of perspective. Remember, I said “sometimes”
And for the record: Some Americans tell other Americans to “go back to somewhere”. This is incorrect because 99% of the Americans being told to “go back” have never been to somewhere in the first place. So, how could they go back?
If you want to tell someone to go back to somewhere, first ensure they’ve been there before, or just drop the back and you’ll be cool.

High Five
The Commerce Department reports the GDP is growing annually at 7.2 %. This is the largest increase in almost 20 years, since the 1st quarter of 1984.
Don't expect the media to give Bush a "high five". Do expect the Democrats to spin these facts out of control.
This will be interesting to watch.

Breaking for Cover
Iraq:
The United Nations is breaking for cover.
The Red Cross is breaking for cover.
The Democrats want to break for cover.
I agree with Zell Miller. The next five years are crucial for the survival of our nation, and will determine the kind of world future generations will live in.
Read more below: Jay Bryant sums it up pretty well.

Are The Terrorists Right? by Jay Bryant
The Muslim terrorists think America is soft. They believe that if you put enough pressure - violent, physical, in-your-face pressure on the United States, it will turn tail and run.
The next few months will determine whether they're right or not, and if it proves that they are, you can forget about American world leadership for a long, long time.
Here's the evidence for their point of view:
1. We gave up in Vietnam. As a football coach might explain after a loss, we didn't get beat, we beat ourselves.
2. Even with a warmonger like (hiss, boo) Ronald Reagan in the White House, we pulled the Marines out of Lebanon in 1983 after a single terrorist attack resulted in casualties.
3. In the first Gulf War, we didn't finish the job, abandoned our allies inside Iraq and went home as soon as the easy part was behind us.
4. In Mogadishu, Somalia, we let a handful of rag-tag rebels in pickup trucks bully us right off the continent.
5. In Yugoslavia, we twice made "no casualties" the guiding principle of our policy, and now the general who implemented that policy is a leading candidate for President.
You've got to admit, that's a pretty impressive list.
From September 11, 2001 until May 1, 2003, it looked for sure that President George W. Bush had put an end to that record of cowardly leadership, but now the president's approval rate is sagging in the wake of a constant bombardment from - not so much the terrorists in Iraq, but from the Democratic presidential candidates on the campaign hustings, and their toadies in Congress, academia and the media.
Egged on by an activist base within their party that cowers at the thought of a strong America, the Democrats have turned their backs on their Roosevelt-Truman heritage.
One listens in vain for a proposal from any one of them on how they would go about building a free, safe, prosperous and pro-American Iraq. Instead, they preach a negative, accusatory message based on falsehoods, absurd interpretations of events and vindictiveness.
There's only one place they can go, and they're headed that way at breakneck speed: capitulation, withdrawal, bring the troops home and abandon the Iraqis to their fate. Who cares about them, anyway?
Mark my words, if a Democrat is elected President in 2004, it's over - not just in Iraq and Afghanistan, but throughout the world. No one old enough to read this column will live long enough to see a strong America again.
We'll be Gulliverized by modern-day Lilliputians. Our very sovereignty will be at risk, as the United Nations and other organized elements of Lilliputia tie us down with a million strength-sapping strings. Our economy will grow weaker and weaker, as one Kyoto Treaty after another takes its toll. If we object, we'll be demonized like college boys in Feminism 101.
Why is it that when a murderous terrorist bombs a Red Cross building, Democrat politicians feel no outrage toward the perpetrators, but instead vent their anger at the one man, George W. Bush, who's trying to rid the world of such disgusting creatures?
My only complaint with the administration is that it is not being nearly forceful enough in answering the poisonous fumes rising from the sons and daughters of Tammany. Thoughtful statements from Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice, even the President are not enough. I say no more Mr. Nice Guy.
Now is the time for America to rise up, to bear the burden and pay the price for freedom, and, yes, let us say it, to make the world safe for democracy. How many days of infamy must we endure before the party that once cheered all those words stops acting like the al Qaeda-American Bund, and finds the nerve to stand for something more enduring than the Iowa caucuses.
The fasting month of Ramadan is supposedly a time for inner reflection, devotion to God, and self-control. This Ramadan is being perverted by people whose worldly goals have nothing to do with any of that - who defile their religion and kill humanitarian workers - all because they believe that if they are violent enough, America's knees will buckle, and they can subject their fellow Muslims throughout the world to a Talibanesque nightmare, and destroy the power of the Great Satan.
Terrorists deserve the contempt of Muslims, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, atheists, and even Democrats.
If it doesn't happen, they'll win. Because they'll have been proven right. We're too soft to lead the world.

Right On!
I'm downtown with this.
Zell Miller endorses Bush
"The next five years will determine the kind of world my children and grandchildren will live in," Miller said in an interview. And he wouldn't "trust" any of the nine Democratic presidential candidates with governing during "that crucial period," he said. "This Democrat will vote for President Bush in 2004."

Coincidence?
I wonder - just wonder, that's all.
It is curious that all of this happened after the Religion of Peace formally declared war on our way of life.
The IslamoFascists want to disrupt and break the back of our economy.
This is a fact. They brag about it. We should hunt them down, and kill them, for they are swine.
The “Cruise Ship Sicknesses” have had an impact. This has never happened before. There is something “that’s not right about this”. Anyway, there’s more to this than meets the eye.
Power outages on a scale we’ve never seen before.
The US, Canada, England, France, Italy, and other grids in Europe. We’re talking about MAJOR outages.
Fires on a scale we’ve never seen before.
The IslamoFascisits have indicated their desire to use Fire to disrupt our economy, as well as the economies of Australia, Italy, Israel, and many more in Europe. Actually, to be accurate, I should say “any economy in a non Muslim country”.
Side note: All countries mentioned above have had reliable intelligence that IslamoFacisists are interested in “burning the foundation of their economies”, and killing as many of the natives as possible.
Worldwide Denial of Service attacks on Internet sites that host “War Bloggers’. This is new, but this is not surprising – these IslamoFascists are whacked.
I think the press is somewhat at fault. It (the press) believes, that average Americans are negligent, have no interest in international policies or politics, are really interested in some stupid domestic “headlines grabbing” murder case, and would rather watch some stupid Sitcom instead of reality.
I disagree – the average American would appreciate the truth. Of course, I never said the watchers of the garbage are average Americans.

I just received word that my good friend from down under (yes, he is Australian) is now the father of a son. Congratulations to him and his wife! Good thing for him it was a boy – he never understood why we ground girl babies, at birth, until 30 years of age.

This is Ridiculous
I understand that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are headed to the Middle East on a private peace mission in hopes they can solve the Israeli-Arab conflict. What?
I’m proud to say I’ve never seen an episode of Friends, and never will, so I don’t know if she can act or not. I am fairly certain, though, neither of them have any diplomatic talent.
A statement from these yoyo’s reads: "The past few years of conflict mean that yet another generation of Israelis and Palestinians will grow up in hatred. We cannot allow that to happen."
Just how they plan to accomplish this remains to be seen.
It gets better. They are taking Danny DeVito with them.
I think we should throw the fly fishing reporter and his wife off the train.
What a joke! I needed a good laugh.

The Ship of Fools
This is a great analysis of the latest debate by the Democratic Dopefulls.
Excerpt:
With the exception of Lieberman and Gephardt, the foreign and defense policy of the remaining candidates was simply “cut and run.” The remaining candidates claimed to be against the Iraqi invasion or believe that they were voting for something other than an invasion of Iraq. They must have thought that the Peace Corps was going to land in Baghdad and persuade Saddam Hussein to be a nice guy.
Never mind that weapons of mass destruction do not have to be huge nuclear arsenals but can be small and equally lethal vials of deadly biological agents. What a surprise that in a country the size of California we have not found these agents. Even more outrageous, we know that France gave passports to ex-Hussein leaders to cross the border into Syria.
Most repulsive is the candidacy of Wesley Clark. Hiding behind his four stars, he berates the Administration for policies that he did, in fact, endorse until his presidential ambitions took hold of him. He has flip-flopped so many times on his assessment of the wisdom of the Iraqi invasion that he should be a contortionist in the circus rather than a candidate for President.
The fact that the Clinton administration was responsible for sleeping at the switch regarding Iraq’s violations, the growth of Al-Quaida or the development of North Korean nuclear capability was conveniently forgotten during the entire debate.
I think President Bush can rest easy given his rag-tag group of opponents. Of course, if the economy were to tank -- even the most egregious pond scum could get elected.
Anyway, go read the whole article.

Reboot Boy
Reboot Boy is a guy who works in a typical office. He supports "end users", not with application support, but with Microsoft Windows operating system problems. All he does all day long is say, "Reboot". Application support requires a real technical person to get involved. Then, the real technical person calls Reboot Boy for yet another technical assessment - which always requires another Reboot.
I must be missing something - these people spend more time rebooting than working.
I have a dedicated Linux box I use for a firewall - I've booted it once in the last 10 months, and that is because I lost power. My goal was a year. Missed it by no fault of the operating system.
The damn thing is like the Energizer Bunny - it just keeps going and going and going.
You can't do that with Windows.

Another Microsoft Cow - Another Reboot
Longhorn, yet another "bet the company" product from Microsoft, is it's biggest release of this decade and the biggest since Windows 95, is being announced three years early. However, Microsoft gave no timetable for the launch of the software, which has already slipped to a later timetable than originally thought. With Longhorn now not expected before 2006, it is just more of the same from Microsoft - which is nothing new.
At the heart of the next Windows will be a new format for storing data that Microsoft has worked on intermittently for more than a decade. Rather than each software application saving information in a different format, a new standardized file system known as WinFS will create a single, unified system.
What a concept!
Anyway, go here for a good laugh.

I was blind for 20 minutes
The Habanero Pepper (Scotch Bonnet) is the hottest pepper known to mankind, and I love them but, just damn, you must be careful. I sliced a few last night (part of my plan B) and washed my hands as always, but it was not good enough. I rubbed my eyes, and thought about a trip to the ER. I was down on my knees in pain and could not open my eyes for 20 minutes, so, I was blind. My eyes are still "not right". I'm serious, these are some "bad boys" and I've been consuming them for years.
The only time the pain has been worse, is when I sliced them in the same manner and then had to take a leak. Can you imagine that?

Have Gun...Will Travel
Apparently, the Russian Space Program doesn’t have much confidence in their re-entry guidance systems. After a Soyuz space craft landed about 2000 miles off course in the midst of a pack of hungry wolves, SOP necessitated packing a sawed off shotgun in each capsule.

Editorial:
"Have Gun...Will Travel"
Sawed off shotguns SOP on Soyuz...
Opinions that end up on this page to date, have resulted from current events and their potential influences on future events.
This time, an event from the past is continuing to influence the present.
Researching the circumstances surrounding Expedition Six Crew's turbulent return to Earth, I ran across an article that jolted me to reality.
The United States Space Program is slightly younger than this Editor. It was begun in 1958 basically as a 'knee jerk' reaction to the Russian Space Program and the launch of "Sputnik."
I think you would agree that since the "Dark Ages" of NASA, tremendous progress has been made, mistakes have occurred and doubts linger as to the future of Manned Space Flight.
With those thoughts in mind, please consider the following.
Expedition Six Crew had no choice but to return to Earth from The International Space Station by way of a Soyuz Spacecraft, normally docked at Alpha as a safety net, in the event of an emergency. Since the entire Shuttle Fleet is grounded, Soyuz IS the only option.
Space N Stuff has posted information regarding this historical event, including the fact that reentry was a rough and tumble ride, to say the least.
Here is the 'kicker' is all of this. Until now, I wasn't aware that onboard each and every Soyuz Capsule is a sawed-off shotgun. I'll repeat that one more time, just in case you think you've misread. INSIDE EACH SOYUZ CAPSULE IS A SAWED-OFF SHOTGUN. Why, you ask?
The recent "off target" landing of the Soyuz was not the first time the landing area was missed.
In 1976, a Soyuz came down during a 'freezing squall' and ended up with it's crew bobbing in a lake, overnight.
However, in 1965, the landing site was missed by 2,000 miles. The two Cosmonauts found themselves in perhaps a much more frightening place that orbiting Earth. They landed deep in a forest with wolves, VERY hungry wolves. They were rescued, but ever since that episode, each Soyuz is equipped with a sawed-off shotgun.
Is it me, or does this strike you as preposterous? ..... "contrary to nature, reason, or common sense."
Man has always had the strong desire to survive. How many Vikings crossed rough seas exploring, and never returned? How many ventured across The United States in wagons, searching for what was on the other side of mountain ranges and are buried in the Heartland? Yet, the wagon trains did not stop.
There is no difference, in the quest for Man's exploration of Space. Each new Program must be tested to its limits, with the knowledge that those brave enough to venture into the unknown, may not return. Progress is the result of sacrifice and experimentation.
What makes my head spin is the fact that in the 21st Century, the Russian Space Program is still operating in the 19th Century. Do they not have the confidence in their scientists, engineers and spacecrafts to "hit the mark" when returning to Earth, that they STILL equip Soyuz with sawed-off shotguns?
I am not naive to think that Russia is more advanced the NASA. But, until the US Shuttle Fleet is running in First Gear once again, we must rely on Soyuz to travel back and forth to Alpha.
That very fact makes me wonder if those who face future flights should wear gun belts and carry plenty of ammo........... "Have Gun, Will Travel."

French Missiles Used in Hotel Attack
(CNSNews.com) - A British newspaper reported that half of the rockets used in Sunday's attack on the Al Rasheed Hotel were French weapons produced after an arms embargo was imposed against Iraq following the Gulf War.
The key here is "after an arms embargo was imposed".
Once again, which side are they on?
Do you think this could possibly illustrate why they didn't support (and wanted to break for cover) the U.S.?
Anyone who trusts the French, is making a HUGE mistake!
I say: F__k em!

Damn Squirrels!
I’ve done got me a problem, and I needs your help. This is probably a question for Uncle Remus, but he ain’t in. In fact, he’s been dead since around 1880.
Anyways, you knows I likes to grows me some peppers and maters in the spring, and greens in the fall. Well my spring plot done got drowned out, but my fall stuff is looking pretty, except for them damn squirrels. Squirrels will eat anything and everything – plants, trees, bird feeders, lawn furniture, hammocks, hoses, plastic – hell you name it – they’ll eat it. Even the grill, but I done made an example outta him. Anyway, last year I done got me one of them there high powered one pumper 22 cal. pellet guns (with a scope) and took matters into my own hands. I capped a bunch of em’. I even got me a count sheet by date and quantity to prove it. Wife made it for me on her computer.
I’m a nice guy, so I done got rid of my one pumper cause my neighbors youngins getting bigger. Theys wandering around all over everything and everywhere now. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that lead pellets don’t ricochet, causing they do. Couldn’t live with myself if I capped a youngin. The neighborhood I live in does not support whipping the ole 12 guage home defender out and vaporizing these bastards. What would the golfers think?
"We're under attack!"
I got a buddy of mine lives close by. Hims and his ol lady raise African fighting cats (damn things look just like leopards, just smaller, but quicker), and he offered to loan me a couple two-three for a couple two-three days – problem is, they ain’t selective. They would probably take care of my rodent problem, but they’d also do the dogs (I like dogs), other cats, and maybe some of their owners. No shit, first time I met em’, I couldn’t shave for a week. They clawed my face good.
My Gran Pappy used to trap em’ and gas em'. He rigged a cage with a cover and attached it to his trucks exhaust pipe. And you know the rest of the story. Worked every time.
Them damn chipmonks is a different story. Theys like the Viet Cong causing they knows how to use tunnels. Sneaky bastards.
Does Bejus like squirrels? How bout Dax?
Any help show would be appreciated.

This rarely happens
I made a pot of red beans and rice today. and they were terrible.
The beans were so bad only a camel could eat em'. And that's a "maybe"
I burned the shit out of the Andouie sausage. That's because my grill girl was off doing something else.
This stuff didn't even look good in the pot, much less on the plate. Believe me, it tasted worse.
Just Damn!
I'm going to plan B for tomorrow. Gotta celebrate "Fall Back" somehow.
Maybe I should go on down to "Nawlins", soak up a little jazz, do some Dixie, and eat some real red beans and rice.

Spring ahead or Fall back
I think we should stay on "Spring Ahead". I don't wait for a bus in the mornings. The later the sun sets, the better.
You know - when the decision was made to spring ahead or fall back, children didn't have reflective gear. They do now, so what's the big deal?
We should stay ahead.

Minority Leader?
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Friday police raids on dozens of U.S. Wal-Mart stores in the search for illegal immigrants this week amounted to "terrorizing" workers.
Maybe we should send a form letter to the address they use to get a valid "illegal alien" driver's license
"It instills a great deal of fear in people who are only trying to earn a living and put food on the table for their family," Pelosi, a California Democrat, told reporters on a Congressional visit to Mexico.
Who cares? I think putting food on the table for their family is admirable - only they should do it in Mexico.
Hundreds of workers at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. locations across the United States were arrested on immigration charges on Thursday in an investigation into contractor cleaning crews.
Good - deport them all, after they clean her house
"We think there might be a better way to go about this because the fact is that it is against the law for the employer to hire these people so there should be more focus on the employer and less in these terrorizing raids," Pelosi said.
She was speaking after meeting Mexican President Vicente Fox for talks on immigration and border security.
Better way? And what would that be? Maybe use the same tanks Janet Reno did?
Pelosi said the Wal-Mart raids showed the need to legalize undocumented workers in parts of the economy other than just the agricultural sector.
Several bills to grant legal status to illegal immigrants working in U.S. agriculture are before Congress, including the Berman-Cannon bill which would let an estimated 500,000 illegal immigrants earn legal residency.
She will need all the undocumented votes she can get. Maybe, this is her plan. Idiot!
The following is unrelated to this rubbish, but speaks of her character. She speaks to the camera, has no agenda, has no problem with lying, and is just full of s__t.
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D! , CA), Dec. 16, 1998

North Carolina Wines
I went to a “North Carolina Wine” tasting this afternoon. They all sucked. I bought a bunch anyway, which means I’ll be giving them away as Christmas presents to people I don’t like. These other people , the wine cellar boys and girls, bragged about how long they’ve been “tweaking” their grapes.
I say: Not long enough. This is really bad, you need to tweak em' some more!

Polling
The first thing I think of when I wake up every morning is Polling. What’s wrong with that?
In my business, in a nutshell, “Polling occurs when one computer contacts another, they swap data, then disconnect.” Very natural.
I was once troubleshooting an unsuccessful “poll”, and I called the guy on the receiving end (target) and said – “Man, I missed you last night – I need to poll you right now”
He said – “Lovely, I get off at five”
Hell, I didn’t know he was a homo.

Cornbread
My Grandmother died ten years ago. We held a funeral service at the cemetery, and afterwards, friends and family went over to my Mom’s for a reception. Pretty standard except for this: My first cousin and her husband, on the way to the reception, rented a trailer, went to my Grandmother’s house, and loaded up everything they wanted. Now that is Cold! Anyway, they missed the prize. I am the owner of several cast iron skillets that have been seasoned for about fifty years.
I think of this every time I make Cornbread.

rm -rf this Junkie
Courtney Love says she tried to make her recent drugs overdose "fun" for her 11-year-old daughter.
Fun? She is a NUT
The Hole singer was arrested earlier this month after becoming violent outside a house in Los Angeles.
Hours after she was released by police, she fell ill from an accidental overdose of the narcotic OxyContin.
Accidental?
Love, 39, said her daughter Frances Bean made her green tea as they waited at their Beverly Hills home for an ambulance to arrive.
Green tea? Just Damn!
"That's the only time my daughter has ever, ever, ever pitched in on one of my little crises," Love said.
Little crises? Big Slut!
"I made it fun. I said it was going to be gross and I was going to have to make myself throw up but it was going to be OK," she told People magazine's November 3 edition.
)%#! )@*
Days later Frances was put in the care of Cobain's mother Wendy O'Connor and a bitter custody battle has since erupted.
GOOD!
Love said: "I'm not on some downward spiral. I'm not on narcotics. I'm fine. I just want my daughter back."
RIGHT!
In another interview, Love revealed the battle for Frances was becoming increasingly hostile.
REALLY?
Love has enjoyed a good relationship with O'Connor since Cobain shot himself in 1994 but it soured after her arrest.
All this bitch needs is a good "rm -rf". That should take care of it.
Just Damn

I would consider what I do for a living, as well as my hobbies, to be highly technical. I have some friends (means we can have a cold beverage together) who are so intelligent they amaze me. There's nothing better than conversing with someone really knowledgeable or having a game of chess when your opponent is better than you. I am very fortunate to know people with minds of this caliber, and I do not take them for granted. They have saved my ass on many occasions.
I have a great deal of admiration for them.
So, my point is: these folks must dream in binary.

A's and E's
I've been asked - Why is Brier not Briar?
Well, I like e's more than a's.
Brier - Anything sharp or unpleasant to the feelings
Patch - A piece of anything used to repair a breach
Brierpatch - A tangled mass of prickly matter
So there you have it!

Flying
You know what really aggravates me about flying? It's the storage space above the seats. I believe when you purchase a ticket, you also "rent" a percentage of the "storage space" which correlates to the number of seats below. Two seats - 50%, for example.
I can't tell you how many times I've boarded an aircraft (with a seat in the front (fore)) and all of the storage is taken. The benefit of sitting fore is you get to disembark first, unless some idiot sitting in the back (aft) has used your space. Then you have to take your luggage aft and store it above the idiot who stole your space. This means you have to wait until everyone has left the plane before you can retrieve your bag, which defeats the purpose of sitting fore. This has caused me to miss connections as well.
Speaking of connections: If the flight is late, why don't they allow everyone in danger of missing their connection to get off the damn plane first. Not doing this has also caused me to miss connections.
You might say, "check your luggage". I say, "it's a pain in the ass and you shouldn't have to because someone steals your space".
Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Moe - pick a seat we gotta go.
I feel better now

Toast for 13 years
CLEARWATER, Fla. — Acting on orders from Gov. Jeb Bush, a hospital began giving fluids to a brain-damaged woman Tuesday, six days after her feeding tube was removed in one of the nation's longest and most bitter right-to-die battles.
This is wrong
Court-appointed doctors have described Schiavo as being in a vegetative state, caused when her heart stopped in 1990 from a suspected chemical imbalance.
They should have let her go 13 years ago
Former Florida Supreme Court Justice Stephen Grimes said it is not clear whether the law will be upheld.
Not clear? Nothing is ever clear with them, except money!
"It presents a new legal issue that I've never heard of," Grimes said.
Bullshit!
Ever hear of Compassion ?
LET HER GO!
Anyway, you can read more here

Jail Shots
Do you know the difference between watching Professional Golf live as opposed to viewing on television? It is the Jail Shots. You can feel em' You can feel the tension and the pressure. You can see , up close and personal, the want for the cash, the want for the win, the need to keep the "card", or make the exemption. You can see a Pro - stressed out. You can see a Caddy - stressed out. You can also hear the leader board. Leader boards are loud - they are not digital - they click loudly all the time. When you see the players looking at the boards - it is not because they want to see where they are - it is because they are annoying and just might make them lose their concentration long enough to blow it. That's a fact.
I went to the PGA in Greensboro last Saturday and Sunday, and I've got to say, it was a well managed affair. Beer huts and facilities every three holes with no lines. Sweet. The weather was perfect.
Anyway, back to the "Jail Shots".
I like to watch the players in trouble. They always seem to have a bad lie, behind the worst possible obstructions, between clubs, no clear line to the pin, and too much pressure.
Yet, 9 times out of 10, they make the shot. Why is this? It's called practice and intuition. What I mean is - after you practice enough, the shot becomes intuitive. This is where the pro's differ from you and I. They have the "qua" (Jerry McGuire). They know the real meaning of “show me the money”.
Now the following is not really an example of "Jail Shots", but of the good ole "Up and Down".
We're "dug in" on the back of the green (just off the the fringe) on the 226 yard par 3, 8th hole. Pin is front - way right - no room to work with it. I mean --- no room at all. We watched 8 groups play. Stats are: ONE greenie, 15 OFF. The results: ONE birdie, 15 Pars. This is amazing - One guy got on in regulation and ended up with a par. One guy was short left, and he chipped in for birdie. The rest, from off the green, got up and down for par. I mean, they ALL saved par.
This is what it is all about. Can you handle the pressure?
These guys are incredible!
We had a good time.

This makes me sick!
From AP: MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. -- A woman who left her 22-month-old grandson inside a burning vehicle early Sunday was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and turned herself in to authorities on Monday.
Endangering the welfare of a child? Give me a break!
So and So, 41, was released on her own recognizance after a short hearing in Superior Court.
Authorities did not lay out their case in the court proceeding.
Why not?
Police said So and So, 41, of Mount Laurel, was driving in a rural section of Eastampton Township shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday when her Ford Bronco ran off the road, starting a fire in the engine compartment.
So and So went to a nearby house to call for help but did not mention that her grandson, Never Had-a-chance, was in the car until 10 minutes later when a police officer arrived, authorities said.
Did not mention he was in the car? She left him inside a burning vehicle?
By the time rescue crews arrived, the fire had engulfed the vehicle, killing the child.
Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi said he would ask a grand jury to consider whether more severe charges might be warranted.
More severe charges? How about 2nd degree murder?
Just Damn!

PERSPECTIVE
Horsefeathers via Instapundit:
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
-President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
-President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
-Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
-Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
-Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D! , CA), Dec. 16, 1998
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999
"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
Letter to President Bush, Signed by:
-Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, Dec 5, 2001
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."
-Sen. Carl Levin (d, MI), Sept. 19, 2002
We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
-Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
-Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
-Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
-Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
-Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
-Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002
"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do"
-Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
-Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002
"[W]ithout question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..."
-Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
And these hypocrites call Bush a liar for saying that Saddam had WMD? Let he who hath ears hear....

Simple Math
I was just thinking. If there are 2 billion Muslims on planet Earth, and only 1% (20 million) aspire to murderous suicide / homicide acts of terror, we've got a long row to hoe. But it also means they need to come up with 1 billion, 440 million virgins.
Now, that's a bunch of hoes

Speed
From CBC News: GENEVA - Researchers have more than doubled the world speed record for internet data transfer.
Scientists at the CERN particle physics laboratory in Switzerland sent the equivalent of a full-length DVD movie in about seven seconds.
Colleagues at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) received the data.
The land record was set on Oct. 1 by transferring 1.1 terabytes of data over a 7,000-kilometre link in less than 30 minutes, the team said.
I say: Al Gore will be holding a press conference soon.
