Achilles Tendon

Eric made me remember.

I was in the fifth grade and it was the last day of school. I was headed to Florida with my family the following day for a vacation. My brother and I were looking forward to it - I think my parents were as well.

I'm riding on the back fender of my friend’s bicycle, when we hit a "bump". My foot went into the spokes. I sliced my heel to the bone, which means my Achilles tendon was completely severed. I was wearing shoes.

I'll spare you all of the details...but let me say....I'm (my foot is) still not right...even after surgery and the years. Damn thing just won't stretch out.

It didn't stop me from getting my ass kicked in contact sports, but it did enable me to forecast the weather.

Anyway, it's by far the worst injury I've ever had - and I've had a lot.

Give me a shout if you want to know if it's going to rain.
