New Year's Day
Life is good. The IslamoFascists didn't attack. All my servers rolled into 2004 seamlessly. Fiscal December is closed. The year is closed. I feel great.
After several cups of freshly ground Costa Rican coffee, we've moved on to Italian (not French) sparkling wine and orange juice.
Let the cooking begin:
A Himalayan Apple Pie has been made, and is cooling.
The Black-Eyed Peas are on slow cook.
The Pearl Onion Parmesan casserole has been built, and ready for the oven.
The Asparagus and Brussels Sprouts are ready for steaming.
Scratch rolls are on the way.
The Potatoes are ready for mashing.
The Marinated Pork Tenderloin is ready for the charcoal grill.
The Sauerkraut is ready for the Tenderloin.
The Peppers, Mushrooms, and Onions are ready for the grill.
The Vanilla Ice Cream is ready for the pie.
Looks like it's going to be a good day.
I’m glad tomorrow is Friday.

Sounds good. Well, all except for the onions, asparagus, brussel sprouts, peppers, mushrooms, and sauerkraut.
Yeah, I'm an impossibly picky eater. I'll take the meat, potatoes, and pie, though. ; )
And you didn't invite me!
I like asparagus. I've even learned that I can eat spinach, fresh or cooked. I guess I should try brussels sprouts. I don't remember trying them, I have just always said I didn't like them.
I'm not really a picky eater. I don't like catsup on hamburgers, but do eat catsup on those fried potato things. You, know the long, skinny potato strips. If a "cocktail sauce" isn't available, I'll even eat catsup on shrimp. And a specialty is catsup on scrambled eggs, just nothing better! But don't ever put catsup on my hamburger!
Also DO NOT put pickles of any kind on my hamburger. None of those diced sweet pickles in potato salad, deviled eggs, etc. There is only one pickle that I eat, a Kosher Dill Spear. And only if it's barely pickled.
I tried white turnips for the first time (that I remember) in my life on Christmas Day. Found out they really weren't bad, just needed some salt and pepper to have any taste. I don't know why I didn't eat them before.
I know I really don't care for beets, I have a vague remembrance of having to try them sometime in my childhood.
I'd have tried the brussel sprouts, if I'd been invited.
I like to roast pork in sauerkraut and onions, too. Usually, I just get some good looking center cut pork chops because I'm only cooking for one.
Now it's almost 2 a.m. and I'm hungry. Grrrr! You didn't invite me.
